Darryl R. Kaplan


With over 40 years’ experience in the shopping center industry, Kaplan has developed a keen understanding of what it takes to create a successful retail environment. His experience covers every aspect of shopping center development including market analysis, site acquisition, land planning, development, leasing, marketing, management and operations.

Prior to his partnership with Collarmele Partners, Kaplan operated his own company for 20 years. The firm had two primary functions: develop and/or lease properties for third party owners
and provide retail real estate advisory services to a variety of upscale retailers and restaurants looking to expand throughout the country. His expertise provided successful ventures for
many clients.

Prior to the formation of his own company, he served as Executive Vice President and Director of Leasing at Leonard L. Farber Incorporated. Kaplan had primary leasing responsibility for The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale, one of the forerunner projects in the country that combined luxury department stores and upscale fashion boutiques. He was also responsible for overseeing the leasing, marketing, management and operations for 8 million square feet of company owned and managed properties.

Kaplan began his career at CBL & Associates, where he was responsible for creation and development of Georgia Square, an 800,000 square foot regional mall in Athens, GA. He also developed and leased 5 community shopping centers.

Darryl is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Florida. Tennis is his main passion when not working. His overall philosophy in life is “work hard and play hard – but play to win.”
